Write for Better Lives

Leeds City Council are looking for guest writers and blog posts from Time to Shine delivery partners and project participants to provide content for the Better Lives blog.

The Better Lives blog focuses on any Leeds-based activity connected with healthy living, social care and age-related care services and brings them to the attention of the blog’s followers (413) and Better Lives’ twitter followers (2,868).

It’s a great way of getting your great work noticed by a larger group of people both in Leeds and nationally.

This is a great opportunity to gain some exposure for your projects. It also compliments nicely the current opportunity to write for Time to Shine

Debra Kerr, senior Communications Officer for Leeds City Council, is more than willing to help you with your writing if you’re unsure about how to write a blog.

Email debra.kerr@leeds.gov.uk or call her on 0113 2243700 if you would like to get involved.

Submission Guidelines

The Better Lives blog is chatty and informal, written in plain English, with no jargon or report-style writing. They especially like “real stories”  or “people” stories as examples.

There are no set rules on wordcount but they advise as a maximum about 750 words. They can host pictures and YouTube videos and encourage you to link back to your project with lots of hyperlinks.

Your blog post needs an introductory paragraph, or standfirst, as that’s all the blog email subscribers receive before they decide to read the rest of the post.
