Coronavirus: grief and bereavement – information and support
Everyone at Time to Shine is very conscious about the number of people dying from the coronavirus. And we know that more older people are dying than younger.
But it’s not just the number. Above all we’re conscious that each of these deaths is a real, individual human being, with their unique story, their family and their friends. Each death will be a unique loss for the community around them.
We are extremely concerned that many loved ones may not be together at a time leading up to death, or for someone’s final moments. Add to this the possibility that many funerals may need to be conducted in a way that may not respect people’s individual, religious or cultural needs and norms, and that the whole period we are going through will for many, be extremely traumatic.
So it’s even more important than ever as we go further into the unknown, that we acknowledge death, rather than hide it, and do our best to allow people the space to remember and celebrate their loved ones and to grieve.
There are several sources of support around bereavement and grief, locally and nationally, in this time of crisis.
