Time to Shine at Leeds Pride

If you would like to attend Leeds Pride but are put off by the crowds, or are worried about access, this is the good opportunity for you.

Time to Shine, in partnership with Sage, are having a ‘mellowish space’ from 11 am – 6 pm on 7 August at Lamberts Yard, Lower Briggate. This is to celebrate Pride and to open up this fantastic, colourful Leeds event to older (50+) LGBT people and others.

The space has good access is and open to all older people, disabled people, families, and anybody else would benefit from the accessibility as well as people of any age who would like to socialise with older people (if it gets full priority will be given to older and disabled people).

Pride Buddies to help older people get through the crowds to access the space will be available. To get a Pride Buddy to help you walk through the crowds on the day phone Jude Woods on 07736 151 895. If you want to book a Pride Buddy in advance you can also phone or email Jude at: j.woods@mesmac.co.uk. The parade will arrive at Lower Briggate at around 3 so it will be less busy before then.

There will be both an outside area and inside (air conditioned) area on the third floor with seats and free cups of tea/coffee as well as a fully staffed bar selling all sorts of drinks and snacks. There is a lift which provides access to the inside area where the  toilets are located (these are small so may be difficult if you cannot transfer easily from your wheelchair – please contact Jude Woods if you need more information about wheelchair accessible toilets at Pride).

If you are interested please get in touch with Hanna on hanna@opforum.org.uk and she can give you more details.
