Time To Shine Update – Young at Arts Launches

Young at Arts was launched on 1 October as part of the Morley Literature Festival

Young at Arts is a two-year project, part of Time to Shine, a six-year programme delivered by Leeds Older People’s Forum and funded through Big Lottery Fund Ageing Better.

Time To Shine takes a city-wide approach to addressing the social isolation of older people. The LEAF partnership’s Young at Arts will create social opportunities through culture and the arts.

The six arts organisations in the LEAF partnership (Yorkshire Dance, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance, Leeds Grand Theatre and City Varieties and Opera North) have a wealth of experience of working with older adults, and this autumn they invite anyone aged 55 or over to one of their Ten Week programmes which bring them right to the heart of three neighbourhoods (Morley, Gipton & Rothwell).

They will be connecting with community centres, health centres, care homes, retail and leisure spaces to put on regular sessions and some Weekends of Wonder for older people to get creative, get active and get connected.

They are looking for community partners and older people across the city to join in and join up – so please get in touch through Yorkshire Dance: admin@yorkshiredance.com or (0113) 243 9867 and come out to play!
