Yorkshire Dance and the Leeds Education Arts Forum (LEAF) creates social opportunities through culture and the arts. LEAF combines the talent and experience of Yorkshire Dance, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance, Leeds Grand Theatre and City Varieties, and Opera North, and encourages people to participate in art, theatre and dance as a way to make connections, develop relationships, support self-expression and combat social isolation. The project gives people a chance to try something new, enabling older adults to become involved in designing, developing and programming exciting arts activities across the city. The project has included dance workshops, film making, creative writing, storytelling, singing and more. A range of creative and dynamic programmes have spread across the city and there is much more to come!

One participant who came to the Meanwood Afternoon of dance said it was "very well organised and presented with lots of good support from volunteers. It was good to see so many golden age people enjoying themselves. It's nice to know that they are not forgotten."
