Training

From time to time we run formal training for Time to Shine Delivery Partners. We also make available any remaining spaces for other people and organisations who work with older people.

Subjects have included:

  • Project Management - covering the principles of effective project management, advice on practical methods and current approaches, and action planning - for anyone trying to organise project delivery on the ground.
  • Social Isolation, Loneliness and Older People - bespoke training that draws on local and national research on the causes and what works to support people, and prevent loneliness and social isolation in the first place. This training can be as short or as long as you require.

We also run more informal sessions through our Time to Learn programme.

How to recruit volunteers

Tuesday 14 January 2020, 10.00-4.00
Heart Centre, LS6 3HN

This course will look at how to recruit volunteers effectively. It will cover:

  • changing the way you and your colleagues think about volunteers (maybe)
  • creating a range of roles suitable for volunteers
  • creating motivational job descriptions
  • the pros and cons of using the word 'volunteer' when asking beneficiaries to 'step-up'
  • systems and good practice in your organisation
  • places to look for potential volunteers
  • a chance to share concerns and get inspiration

It is a whole day event, based around your work roles and requirements. Bring as much material as you can; we will use it as case studies to work on, and I hope you will take some concrete 'learning' away with you.

This event is FREE and open to volunteers and members of staff from organisations working with older people. It is suitable for people who are volunteer managers, or who just work with a few volunteers in their own role
